What Fiverr Can Do For You

My wife is having another holiday in Perth. But I am not going with her this time.

While I was working alone at home yesterday, it suddenly came to my mind that I should do something special for my wife while she is having her holiday in Perth. Then this idea came along:

For those who know me well, I am sure you can tell the person holding the card is not me. I am not at the Times Square,  NY at the moment. I am still at home in Kuching, Sarawak. What I did was to pay someone at Fiverr to  do that for me. And it cost me only $5- Fiver! I basically hired someone in New York to hold up a card with the message to my wife, June in the busy Times Square for me. Interesting yeah!

So if you want to have anything done online at a very cheap or affordable fee, you can always check out Fiverr. You will find lots of interesting offers there, e.g. sing a birthday song for your friend etc. And if you are keen to offer your service there, feel free to do so. You will be paid $5 for every task you perform. But $1 will go to Fiverr Fair enough as it provides you a platform to make money.

Happy Chinese New Year

I would like to take this opportunity to wish every single one of you 恭喜发财 (Gong Xi Fa Cai) !  In English it means- wishing you to be prosperous and make lots of money in the coming year.

2011 is the year of Rabbit. Chinese new year is always the season for reunion. Family and friends coming back from overseas to celebrate the new year together. But time flies, today is the 8th day of Chinese New Year (Chinese new year lasts for 15 days).  Some of you may still in new year mood, and have lots of dinner to attend every night. But watch out for your weight and don’t end up like me well…….overweight!

ShangHai Expo China – Chinese Marketing Strategy

While I was touring around China in the past 10 days, I would be looking for places to sit down to watch the World Cup at night time, be it in the middle of the buzzling street or hotel room. The whole world is crazy about football and there are people willing to take a day off or even skip exam just to watch their country playing.  No wonder it is claimed that there are only two (2) languages in the world – one is Football and the other one is Music.

One thing that really inspired me in China is how the Chinese Government doing business. I took the opportunity to visit the ShangHai World Expo for 2 consecutive days (it is too short) during my China trip. I was amazed to see thousands of tour buses lining outside the expo park, and hundreds of thousands people lining inside the expo park. On the very first day of my visit, there were 540,000 visitors to the expo (source- ShangHai Expo). That is equivalent to the whole population of Kuching, the city where I come from. Having said that, I guess around 70% of the visitors were from the home country itself. WHY?

The effort put in by the ShangHai Government in staging this world class event definitely deserved the compliment. To make sure all the people of ShangHai benefit from this event, the ShangHai government has given each family of ShangHai a FREE Expo ticket and a transport card. And that amounts to around 7 million FREE tickets. But with 7 million free tickets given out, it will easily bring in another 15 million paying visitors as there are definitely more than 1 family member in each household. On top of that, the ShangHai Government has also encouraged the students to visit the Expo at least 2 times over the 6 months Expo.

So if you are an online marketer or affiliate marketer, isn’t this strategy sounds familiar to you? Don’t you have to give first before you take?  All the leads capture exercise and also the freebies given out via the newsletter are similar to the game plan of the Expo. Don’t forget the upselling of the Expo – the 3000 ranges of souvenirs.

Nothing much to complain about the Expo, except the long Queue!!! If you want to visit the popular pavilions like China, Great Britain, Japan, Saudi Arab, Thailand etc, you may have to queue up to 6-7 hours sometimes.  Of course this is definitely a No No for me, unless I were granted a Green lane entry like Malaysia Pavilion where  no queue is necessary.

Tiger Year, A Different Chinese New Year For Me!

I had posted a blog of Chinese New Year (CNY) right before CNY. As the CNY just passed, I thought it may be good for me to share my CNY celebration as it is  different for me this year!

While Xmas celebration lasts for 12 days, Chinese New Year lasts for 15 days. Most of my US, UK and Aus internet marketing counterparts normally will take 1 month off to celebrate Xmas and New Year. But for me I will take 15 days off for CNY.

There are lots of things going on as usual during the 15-Day of CNY celebration- lion dance, fireworks, gambling, visiting and eat & drink in very high frequency! But this year has been a little bit different for me because I am a married man already and therefore have a lot more new year visiting to do, i.e. my wife and my own families. On top of that, I am now ‘eligible’ to give Ang Pao (red packet stuffed with money) to my younger relatives. Huh.. good or not?? You judge!

CNY is also regarded as Good Days by many Chinese and hence my cousin chose to get married this CNY. And that at least kept us a little bit busier than usual. Having said that, I do have a very good Chinese New Year Holiday this year, especially the holiday in Gayana Eco Resort & Bunga Raya Resort, Sabah, Borneo.

Whose Belly is bigger? Eat too Much During Chinese New Year

Life is Wonderful but Unpredictable. In the short 15 days of CNY, we have lots of joys and celebration and good food. In the short 15 days of CNY, my grandmum was sick and admitted to hospital too. And right after the CNY, my uncle passed away… My condolences to the family of my Uncle.  So this is a really Different Chinese New Year for me!

Life is Simple.. we all are heading towards the same destiny but the path is different!

Again, this is the most exciting moment of the year!

When I was young, I look forwards to Chinese New Year because:

1. I get to see all my relatives coming back for gathering, for reunion dinner;

2. I have fireworks to play with;

3. It is school holiday time;

Now I am married and no more ‘young’ physically, but I still love Chinese New Year because:

1. I still get to see all my relative because there are more of them now. A lot more new members in the family. In fact I can’t wait for Chinese New Year to come because it is the only time I can spend more times with my parents and all my family members. Obviously everyone is off from work!;

2. It is so happening and vibrant everywhere you go. I go shopping for the new decos for my house and foods for Chinese New Year;

3. I am getting very excited because I get to meet up with old friends whom I have not met for ages. Most of them are working overseas and only come back to home town once a year;

4. I feel content because with my wife, we are able to give out Any Pao happily!! I know lots of people worry about money when come to Chinese New Year. So I do hope this is not the case for you in the coming years! You are welcomed to join me in the internet marketing venture and you will surely be able to have a lot more cash for your next Chinese New Year ;
