Simple Affiliate Marketing Tips

I have not touched much on affiliate marketing for a while. Even my RM1000 Per Day System is more to ecommerce. For those who wrote to me on affiliate marketing, I have a good news for you I just prepared a simple Affiliate Marketing Tips.

You’ve been hearing about affiliate marketing for a long time. You may have heard that it is an easy way to make money online. Some people may also tell you that it is the fastest way to get started making money online. You can promote products from the US, UK or Singapore if you are based in Malaysia, Philipine or anywhere else in the world.

I do agree that it’s a great way to make a living. You just have to pick an affiliate product and market it online. There are lots of people that make a full time income from affiliate marketing. I do it part time and it suits me just fine. And in fact I always tie it up with my ecommerce business, i.e. you are doing upselling by promoting affiliate products after people purchase your product from your stores. This works very well because a Buyer is always a Buyer.

Affiliate business is really reallyx100 great:

1– You don’t need to go through the headaches of product creation. There are tons of products online for you to choose from.
2– You don’t need to bother with inventory and delivery. The merchants will deliver for you.
3– You don’t have to worry about merchant accounts.
All you’ve got to do is pick products (it’s free), promote and cash your checks. That is why it is a No Strings Attached marketing/business.

Where to Find for Affiliate Product Vendor

There are many product vendors looking for people to promote their products for a commission. Commissions vary from as low as 5% of the cost of the product to as much as 75% and even 100% in some cases.

Let’s say that a website sells a product for $50. That website can have an “affiliate program” and allow you and others to promote that product and receive a percentage of the product’s price in commissions, every time you refer someone to that site who ends up buying that product.

Here are some ideas on how to find affiliate products to promote:
A) Search on affiliate NETWORKS like http://www.Clickbank.com, http://www.cj.com and http://www.SellHealth.com . You can check out my previous post on How to Choose a Profitable Click Bank Product.

B) Join the email lists of competitors in your niche and see what products they promote. Some of those products will be in affiliate networks like the ones mentioned above. Others will have an independent affiliate program.

C) Something else you may want to look into is promoting products of what I call “network/company hybrids.” These are big companies who have products in several different niches (e.g. Sell Health which promotes health products) and they have their act together. They typically pay 30-50% commissions plus 5- 10% 2nd-tier commissions. Plus, they have good salesletters, content for affiliates, they pay on time etc…This is great because once you promote one of their products and see that they pay on time, you have that much more assurance that you will get paid when you promote their other products. You will also be getting one check or paypal payment for all the products of the same company you promote – this helps keep things focused.

How to Promote Affiliate Products Online…The Right Way

Promoting someone else’s product as an affiliate is one of the best ways to get your feet wet in online marketing. But you have to do it the right way or else you’ll start wondering why you are not seeing success.

So, here goes:
Treat your affiliate business like YOUR business. Because someone else fulfils the product, this doesn’t mean that he is the “be all and end all” in this process. If you are the one who refers and presells the customer, you are at least 50% responsible for the success of this process – and you should be rewarded for this! (No – not by being “promised” 50% of each sale you make). So make sure you do your own study and research before you promote the affiliate product. Focus is the Key to Success Online

I am going to cinema in an hour time, not with my wife but with my close friends this time, for mid night show. I am a cinema goer and it has become my weekly routine. Since my wife is now enjoying her holiday in Australia for 2 months, I therefore have to drag my friends along to the show.

I have decided to do a blog post before I leave my house to the cinema. I want to share with you my internet marketing experience.

I really can’t recall how I ended up in ‘make money online’. Make money online is a very fascinating phrase for many others who have no idea how people become millionaire selling online. It is also a very frustrating phrase for many others who have been trying to chase their online millionaire dreams because they just can’t get any fruitful results from their internet venture. Some blame that it is too competitive online. Of course there are some who just love to jump from Guru A to Guru Z and lose the momentum after that.

People who jump from one Guru to another or buy one product after another always think they know most of the things online but they just can’t make a dime online. I know how stressful and discourage it is after paying so much money to learn ‘how to make money online’ but ended up getting nowhere, because I was one of them before.

For me, the reason why I failed online is because I was trying to do too many things at one time. I tried to sell on eBay and Amazon, and I tried to do affiliate and email marketing and promote both digital and physical product. I then thought mastering SEO will make me ‘unbeatable’ online. But why I still not making any money online then? Yes, I have been too greedy in my learning curve. I tried to master everything but in fact I ended up being general and a mediocre in everything. Having said that, I have No regret at all because whatever I have learnt does help to build a solid foundation for my future success in online business.

I didn’t give up even though I don’t really make decent money online. I just keep trying out different things as usual and not until beginning of year 2008 that I realized I have to focus on one thing at a time. I then choose to start with the easy one, which is to sell on eBay. eBay is a big market and the traffic is there ready for you.  I do not have to do the marketing and eBay will send the customers to my listing 24/7.

It went off quite well and I finally started to see some REAL money coming in. And I know I have to explore further rather than sitting on eBay. As the product is selling well on eBay, I am sure it will also sell if I set up my own e-commerce site. With some keyword analysis and SEO (which I have learnt before), I managed to get my e-commerce sites up on the 1^st page of Google SERPs and enjoy the free traffics and good money daily!

There are many things, areas or niches that one can explore online. It is so wide that people always get greedy and want to dominate every single one of them. Therefore we always see people ‘swing’ from one niche to another even before they master or succeed in one. Focus and become specialist of that particular niche is the key to success online.

So the take away here is- be focus and claim the authority in your very own niche

My friend, Johnny called me on Saturday afternoon and asked me out for a drink. We were having long chat on making money online. Johnny is very keen to venture into internet business but he does not know what to do online. For the past few months, he has been trying out on affiliate marketing, promoting hotel booking system. He tried to set up a website on free host to promote this business. But he is not getting any clicks on the site. Having said that, he still manages to generate $40 commission by clicking on his own affiliate link!!

Wow! In fact I am not surprise that 90% of the new affiliate marketers are doing the same thing – click on their own affiliate links. Words of caution – You will get BANNED if you keep doing that. I am sure you have heard of Google banning Adsense account because of some foul plays by the account owner himself. The tracking system nowadays is very advance and clever. You can’t beat the Google fraud detection system or else Google will be losing its web of trust. To have your Google Adsense account back after being banned is almost IMPOSSIBLE!

Johnny is a bit lost when come to make money online after his affiliate marketing venture. Of course there are many people out there making good money doing affiliate marketing. A lot of Guru will tell you how to attract traffics to your site via article marketing, social media, forum posting, blog commenting, video marketing etc. And from there you are hoping the visitors to your website will click on your affiliate links or Google ads. This is the ‘standard’ procedure for most affiliate marketers. So what do you think? Isn’t that very tedious and involve a lot of hard works?

I am a very lazy and ‘short cut’ person. I love to do things fast and easy. Therefore I would opt for search engine optimisation to build huge traffics to my sites.  I would rank my site high on Google and keep it there all the time! That really save the hassle of other traffic generation exercises. Studies have shown that 8 out of 10 web session starts at search. People have relied very much on search engine nowadays to look for what they want in their daily life. And we all have spent more times online than ever before.

Johnny is promoting something that is very competitive and also something not very ‘focus’. What do I mean by competitive? Competitive because there are many established hotel booking sites like AsiaRoom.com, hotel.com, lastminute.com, lateroom.com, hostelworld.com, hotelscombined.com, hotelscomparison.com etc already rank well on Google. Why not focus? For a ‘one man show’, you can’t rank your website to target London hotel, NY hotel, Singapore hotel, Kuala Lumpur Hotel etc at the same time. The geography that he is trying to target just being too wide.

I don’t mean to put Johnny off by telling him that he should try out something else online. For any business, one should start with the following (in exact sequence):

1. Keyword research – See if there is anyone searching for that keywords online? If the volume of search is too small, then forget about it. There is no point promoting something that is very rarely searched for.

2. Market and competitiveness research – After choosing the keywords with high search volume, you shall check out how competitive is that keyword. You are hitting jack pot if there are no much competition for that keyword.

3. Choosing Product – You can see that product shall come last. After doing your keyword and competitiveness research, the last thing you should do is to search for the related product to sell. A lot of time people would start with a product first and end up wasting time promoting something either not popular or very competitive.

So if you want to make money online, make sure you follow the correct sequence above.

Why Frustrated -Stop Complaining About Your Life

I was very frustrated when one of my e-commerce site that can bring in at least $500 sales per day went down because my ‘outsourced programmer’ made a careless mistake. As you know, I don’t know anything about programming and I still insist not to learn because I know it is very time consuming and therefore I rather outsource all my programming works to some freelancers online.

So you can see I am dealing with virtual programmers from all over the world via internet, especially from India & Egypt all the time. For this incident, I requested the programmer to amend a minor thing for me on this particular website and after he amended, he uploaded the script without checking to see if the website is functioning. And I am sure this is a very careless mistake! And this shows how unprofessional one person can be sometimes. I only noticed the site not functioning when I found out there was no sale for one whole day coming from that particular website (I was curious as I used to see ‘Payment received from…” or “Notification of Payment Received” email from Paypal every morning I wake up).

To make things worst, due to the time difference, I will have to wait for the programmer to come online before I can talk to him. And to make sure I don’t have to sit in front of my computer waiting for him to come online, I decided to send him A FEW emails (not one) to show him how desperate I want him to fix the site for me asap. And due to some personal commitments, the programmer wouldn’t be able to go online until late night. So basically I am losing 2 days of sales.

So nothing much I can do and I just have to wait for him to get back to me. It really tested my patience. But after I watched the following video someone posted on Facebook, I realised how lucky I am as compared to many many many many others in this world. I know I will get my site back up anytime. But this brilliant young gentlement from China will never have his arms back anymore!  So cool down and think positive when things go wrong for us. Why complaining about your life when you are healthy and still have your two arms to make your living!

Fiverr.com – 5 Dollars Revolution

Only recently I came across this wonderful website – Fiverr.com.

At Fiverr, you can basically get anything you want done online at the price tag of $5 only!

You can be the ‘seller’ or ‘buyer’ at Fiverr. As the seller, you can provide your services at Fiverr and make money online. Of course, Fiverr will take $1 off the $5 people paying you for your service. You can see all sorts of funny services provided at Fiverr:

If you are a good writer, you can offer to write an article and help to post to any article directory for $5. If you are good in SEO, you can offer your service as SEO consultant or provide link building service at the price of $5. If you are good in graphic design, then Fiverr is a platform for you to make good money day in day out as well. If you have some PLR products, try to put up there for sale. It is free for you to offer your products and once it is sold, you just have to mail it over to the buyer- easy money!

Imaging if you can have 10 orders per day, you will be pocketing $40 daily! It may not be a lot of money, but it is always better than the min pay. Try to sell something that is easy and fast to prepare because time is money. You wouldn’t want to spend one whole day to make $5.

Where to Sell Online? Make More Money Leverage Online

This is one of the most important Posts I intend to deliver to you this month if you want to sell online. Please READ if you want to increase your income online by many folds.

I have been invited to post at other places regarding e-commerce for some times. One of the most commonly asked questions is - Where to sell my product? This is a very GOOD question for sure.

The answer is very simple but very important indeed because the answer to the question can easily help to double or triple your income online.

If you own your very own e-commerce shop and make $200 per day from the website, what you can do is to sell the same product over and over again at other portals. You can always sell at:

There are also many affiliate sites that can help to promote your products if your products meet their requirement, i.e. paydotcom.com, cj.com etc. You can always search online for affiliate sites that cater for your niche or products.

So the Take Away for you is: Leverage on many other portals that have traffic ready to sell your products. You can easily increase your income with very little work done! Simple mathematics right ? !

$200 x A = $200A. If A= 5 different sites, then income = $200 x 5 = $ 1000 per day! Love it!

Make Money Online with the Money Keywords

While I was thinking of creating my new make money online niche last night, I  saw the following headline on BBC news site: TIME BOMB !!!!

It seems like another round of wave is hitting the financial market.

Of course share trading is an investment worth to look into. But not everyone has the capacity to do that. Same as the red hot Forex Trading. If you are looking for something that requires very small start up cost, and very safe investment, I still highly recommend you to make money online!

But to make money online, you must find the right niche and keywords. Or to be more specific- “Buyer Keywords” or ‘Money Keywords“. So what is the difference between the ordinary keywords and Buyer Keywords? For example, ‘how to overcome premature ejaculation‘ as compared to ‘premature ejaculation‘.  It is obvious that people who Google for ‘how to overcome premature ejaculation’ is looking for solution, looking for product to cure their problem. So ‘how to overcome premature ejaculation’ is considered as Buyer Keywords. Those who key in for ‘premature ejaculation’ are either looking for information or products. So it is wide and less targeted if you are selling any premature ejaculation cure product.

So Why must we get the keywords right from the beginning?:-

• target the right ‘buying’ customers
• generate enough traffic to your sites
• beat your competitors easily

Let me elaborate on those points above.

Target the right ‘buying’ customers

The name Buyers Keywords is self- explanatory. If you really want to make money online, one should target buyer keywords. This is where the money is. And that is why it is also called Money Keywords. We want to target the right customers to our site. Traffic to your site is of little use unless the people who cisit your site are likely to buy. A lot of amateur marketers are making the mistake to waste money attracting the wrong people.

Generate enough traffic to your sites

The general keywords like ‘premature ejaculation’ is very wide and will definitely generate lots of traffic to the site. But as mentioned above, more traffic does not mean more sale. Of course if you are good enough, you can always use the general keyword to attract traffic to your landing page or site. This is only recommended if you are capable to rank for organic listing. If you are using Google Pay Per Click  (PPC) campaign, then it is highly NOT recommended as you are unlikely to have buying customers and also it will cost you MORE money for those keywords. Check out the cost for PPC for those 2 keyword phrases below. You can see that ‘how to overcome premature ejaculation’ is less costly as compared to ‘premature ejaculation’. Of course the traffic is less but you will be getting quality buying visitors.

Beat your competitors easily

You noticed that I use the words ‘if you are capable‘ in the section above? Obviously it is difficult for you to compete with the big boys to rank on the 1st page of Google SERPs. You can see that there are 2,570,000 websites competing for the keywords ‘premature ejaculation’, whereas only 188,000 websites competing for keywords ‘how to overcome premature ejaculation’. So which one you think you can rank better in Google if you work on your Search Engine Optimisation for your website? The answer is obvious. You can rank not only better in Google, but also Faster! Faster means money come in Fast too. In fact we are targeting long tail keywords here.

There are many people want to make money online, but not knowing what to do online in order to make money. So before you venture into anything, please make sure you get your niche and also targeted keywords right. Once you have got your keywords with the keywords research, then you shall look for your products and also think about your marketing strategy.

Marketing is the process by which you encourage the right customers to find and buy your products. In e-commerce, we are interacting directly with individuals who will then, we hope, purchase from us. Contrast this with Pepsi or Coca-Cola for example. Their marketing is all about supporting their brand and encourage people to buy from their retailers, who in turn buy their stock from Pepsi or Coca-Cola, thus passing on  proportion of their revenue. They do not have a one to one relationship with any of their consumers. But for any online business, personal touch is important. And because of that, it also gives us a chance to interact more effectively with our customers than the big corporations.

Is Blogging the History? No If You Know How To Blend or Crash Your iPad

I have lots of friends who used to be very active in blogging before have shown sign of slowing down. The reason being is they are all becoming very active in Facebook. Facebook, Twitter, Linked, MySpace, and many other social networking sites have dominated a large parts of our daily life nowadays. It is much  easier to post a short sentence in Facebook or Twitter and get the whole world notice of that you are up to.  And another beauty of it is, you can post every minute if you want. You can’t create an original blog  post every minute right? So who cares about blogging anymore!! ?? The answer to you is Business. Business needs a blog for branding, promotion, search engine optimisation and sell.

If you own a business and want to create a blog,  unless you are a celebrity, it is probably much more effective for you to create a blog under your business name rather than your personal identity. And you can always integrate your business blog to your sales website.

So what is the point of having a blog for your business?

If you are a business man, you definitely like to get something back from the time  and money you spend in marketing. The same thing applied to your business blog; you want your blog to help to sell. But do not make your blog too serious and too corporate. No one will come back to a blog that talk like their bosses or middle-aged corporate speaking. Your aim is to have people returning to your blog on regular basis and subscribe to your blog. You can be a bit viral like Blendtec. Blentec is company that sell blender. And if you check out their blog, they use their blender to blend, crash, slice everything single thing they can find on earth, this including, the latest iPad, iPhone, diamond..etc. Watch their video clip from their blog and you will be amazed! Here is my tips for successful business blogging:

1. Who is your audience? – You must know who your targeted audiences are. By knowing who your audiences are, you should write in the tune and using the voice that suits and appeals to them. Example, if you own a  hotel and you have a blog attached to your hotel website. You cannot blog everyday about how good your hotel is or what facilities do you have and who are your new guests checking in today etc. Of course your potential guests would love to know what facilities your hotel has (in fact this can go to your hotel website itself), but they also interested to find out where they can do in town and where is the best place to go for local food. I am sure you have travelled to a lot of places yourself. So Ask yourself what do you want to find out most when you arrive in town that is totally stranger to you? You may want to know what are the interesting places in town, how to get there, any big events going on in town, what are the best local food and where can you find the laundry service, and where is the money changer..etc. So write something what your customers or your audiences are looking for in your blog and also touch on your hotel every now and then.

2. Give before you Take- Try to give your potential customers more than others. It is a competitive world out there. And everyone is expecting to get free information online these days. So you have to feed them with the info they are looking for and help them to solve their problem online. If your company is selling weight loss product, then your blog shall provide them solution on how to lose weight step by step, what to eat what not to eat, and what exercise to do… and then touch on your product which will accelerate the weight loss process. So trying to give more info to your customers and do not sell them directly- no hard selling in your blog.

3. Make friend with your potential customers- Trying to make friends and be very personal to every single one of your readers. This is what we call relationship marketing. Would you buy from a stranger? I bet you prefer to buy from someone you know or someone reputable like from eBay or Amazon. But if you are totally new to someone online, you shall take the opportunity  to build a relationship with your  potential customers. There are may e-commerce site run a pay per click campaign online. They will sit back and lure people to buy from them. Even though people do buy sometimes, but the customers tend to forget about them after the sale. So the best thing to do is to give something free to your customers in exchange for their email address. Then you can always email (at programmed intervals) them and build a trust between you and your potential customers. Ultimate aim of all these is to make one or even more sales to your customers. This is also why it is important to integrate email marketing to the blog.

4. Keep updating- You will have to keep your blog ‘alive’. Constant updating of your blog is vital as search engine like Google love new content. I am sure you ever come across blogs with the latest post updated few months ago or even years. An outdated blog is worse than no blog at all because this really give very bad impression to people who will think that you are not taking your business seriously. So how do you expect to sell them?

5. Profession domain name- Do not use free blogging host service like www.blogger.com. It is like using Yahoo for your business email address. It is just not professional. For example, if you own a domain like http://instantcashinbox.com, then you should use info@instantcashinbox.com (by the way this is my very own website). Do Not use Instantcashinbox@yahoo.com. This just looks very ugly! So same thing applied to your business blog. If you own ABC123.com, then your blog should be something like http://blogs.ABC123.com/. Do not use ABC123.blogger.com.

6. Social media and social bookmark- Always have your social networking account like Facebook, Twitter and social bookmark like Digg, Stumbl, Delicious etc on the blog. This will help the marketing of your product and also your blog.

How much is each customer worth for your online ecommerce business?

I am sure you always hear people saying that those who bought from you before will always buy from you again. They are more likely to become your returning customers, be it buying the same product or other products that you are promoting.

Before you start an online business, please make sure that you do not fall into the low end of any market and compete on the price with many others. Imaging if I am selling a product costs USD49 as compared to you selling a product costs only USD4.90. You may have to sell 10 products to make the same amount of money that I am making with only 1 sale (assuming the profit margin is proportionate). In normal circumstances, the higher the price the better the profit margin.

Of course it is acceptable if you have few OTOs (one time offers) or upselling following your first sale. Some people try to attract the potential customers to pay very little for the 1st product and then promote them the 2nd or 3rd products after they manage to close the 1st deal. This is a good marketing strategy because as mentioned above, those who purchased from you before will always buy again from you- people tend to purchase from someone whom they are familiar with or whom they trust.

So think about the products or services that you are going to sell online and see how you can make the most out from your customers. How much income can you generate from each customer per year? If at all possible, pick a product or service that can build a long term relationship with your customers and hence getting them to buy from you again and again. For example, you can sell a health product that demand repeated purchase from time to time. Or you can sell your membership site that charge your members monthly fee.

So back to the question- how much is each customer worth for your ecommerce sites? The rules of thumb from my personal experience is to generate minimum USD50 per annum from each customer. Why minimum USD50? Sometimes you may spend money on Google adwords advertising which costs you some money. If the cost for you to convert someone into a paying customer is 5USD. Then 5USD seems like a good bargain if you can expect each customer to pay you USD50 per year. If you know how much is each customer worth for your ecommerce sites, then you can budget your ads spending.

I hope you have grasped the idea that I am trying to convey to you now. If you are smart enough, you should be able to tell that ecommerce is a number game. If you have a website that generate USD50 per year from each customer, then you can have several other websites that generate the same amount of money from every single one of your customers. If you have 10 ecommerce sites that sell, then you are basically increasing your net-worth by 10 folds.
